bup software package provides highly efficient file backup system based on git, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install bup
bup is installed in your system.
Make ensure the bup package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep bup *
You will get with bup package name, version, architecture and description in a table
